"Change happens through movement, and movement heals." - Joseph Pilates

A near-fatal cycling accident became my unexpected gateway to transformation. When my trusted gym routine failed to quiet the persistent hum of pain, I discovered Pilates – and after just six weeks of mat work, the difference was nothing short of miraculous.

The profound impact Pilates had on my recovery planted a seed that would take six years to fully bloom.

At 42, I embraced a new chapter, diving into a comprehensive year-long apprenticeship in all-equipment Pilates. Life has a way of turning our biggest challenges into our greatest growth opportunities.

Today, I'm on a mission to help others, especially older adults, embrace the philosophy that "motion is lotion."

As a Strength Coach, Pilates and Qigong Instructor, and Energy Alignment Practitioner, I've developed a unique teaching style that blends multiple modalities. My clients often tell me my imaginative cues make their workouts both effective and enjoyable – or as I like to say, "fun and juicy!"

When I'm not in the studio, you'll find me attending supper clubs, experimenting with home cooking, salsa dancing and belting out living room karaoke, or chasing beautiful sunsets around the globe.

Joseph Pilates promised: "In 10 session sessions you will feel the difference, In 20 you will see the difference, and in 30 you'll have a whole new body." Ready to start your transformation?

Debbie

Having spent 25 years in Finance, Debbie decided it was time to follow her heart and turn her passion for health and fitness into something more. After starting Pilates classes, she quickly fell in love with how it made her feel - stronger, with a deeper body connection and re-energised. That passion inspired her to take Pilates teaching qualifications so that she could share those benefits with others.

Says Debbie: Pilates has truly become my ‘happy place’. I love creating classes that are friendly and welcoming, with a good amount of challenge and fun! My goal is to help you move better, feel stronger and leave each class with a smile.

My practice is focused in evidence-based methods, meticulous clinical assessment and tailored rehabilitation programs, followed by clinical Pilates designed to help patients recovery journey and to maintain optimal strength for long-term wellness.

Simona

Simona has been teaching Mat Pilates at the Surrey Physio Carshalton branch for the last 3 years, currently running 3 classes a week at this location.

Simona’s Pilates journey started early in her teenage years when Pilates became an essential practice through her 8 years of professional Ballet training (La Scala Theatre Ballet School, The Royal Ballet Upper School, and the English National Ballet school).

The next progression was a Pilates teaching qualification and she has now been teaching Pilates, as well as also being a Personal Trainer, for around 13 years.

Besides being trained in exercise prescription Simona is also a qualified Osteopath since 2019.

"The combination of being an Osteopath and teaching Pilates is in my opinion a perfect one as I find it allows me to structure, deliver and adapt my Pilates teaching based on a very in-depth knowledge of the musculoskeletal system, body mechanics and of how these may be altered or impacted due to injuries and systemic issues a given individual may present with. Besides, when treating patients in my private practice as an Osteopath, as part of their journey to recovery, I regularly employ Pilates as part of their rehab process”, says Simona.
