What our wonderful clients have to say about Croydon Pilates
I first consulted Kay as an Osteopath for stiffness and pain in my neck. I was particularly impressed by her holistic approach, rather than just looking at my neck, she checked my overall posture and flexibility and discussed my lifestyle and medical history. Her approach is very inclusive and reassuring, at every stage of the treatment she explained what she was doing and how it could help and using a number of different techniques, including gentle manipulation, exercises and acupuncture quickly relieved my problems. Following my discussions with Kay it was clear that a more general rehabilitation programme would be very beneficial and so I signed up for Kay’s Pilates classes. I’ve never enjoyed, stuck at or found benefit in formal exercise but Pilates has quickly become a crucial part of my life; I feel stronger and I’m certainly more aware of my posture and how I use my muscles. I quite often find myself thinking “long neck, tuck your chin” or “hello glutes or abs”. The classes are small, we never seem to do the same routine twice and she layers the exercises so that we start with the basics and can add extra elements of difficulty according to ability and weaknesses. Doing Pilates with Kay has made a real difference to my wellbeing, I am more flexible, largely pain free and have tools which I can use between classes to nip any issues in the bud. So, a huge thank you to Kay for the classes and her skill and expertise in keeping them so interesting and varied.

I have a re-occurring back problem and was drawn to Pilates at the clinic because Kay, the teacher, is an osteopath. This gives added reassurance to wary ‘back injured’ people like me and since starting the class my problems have improved immeasurably. Not only is my posture, flexibility and abdominal strength better, more importantly I am free from pain. Kay is very attentive to any individual need and I always feel very safe in her hands. She is patient, enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the qualities that she brings to every session make Pilates a joy to do. I always look forward to the class and leave feeling energised and free of tension. Pilates has definitely become an essential part of my life and I would have no hesitation in recommending Kay’s classes to anyone who might be interested.

Pilates has definitely helped me to feel less stiffness in my neck. It has also improved my posture and balance, as well as releasing tension. Kay’s tuition is superb, and she gives individual attention within a small group. She is a qualified osteopath, so I do feel safe in the knowledge that she is watching every movement that I make. I feel healthier and more relaxed since I started lessons with Kay, she is an inspiration to students and has such an easy going manner.

I first met Kay in her capacity as Osteopath some three years ago. I attended her clinic as I was having back problems. I was very impressed not only with her treatment, but also with her ‘patient bedside manner’. She made me feel totally at ease straight away. I have subsequently had other treatments for various problems including soft tissue massage and also acupuncture and Kay has helped me enormously. I have been attending Kay’s Pilates classes for three years now and have not encountered any more back problems. Kay is very good at explaining the moves required and also at checking that you are doing it correctly. Apart from all this, she makes the classes very entertaining so you always come back for more! Kay is a very nice and friendly person and I consider myself lucky to be one of her patients.

I had been having problems with my back on and off for about 2 years (pain and stiffness) then I started to have sciatica pain as well. I booked an appointment with Kay and after about 4 osteopathy appointments my symptoms improved and she offered me Pilates sessions. Now my back is better than it’s been for years. Thank you

I have found Mrs Kay Allardyce to be absolutely on top of her game as an Osteopath and Pilates Instructor. She has improved the quality of my life immeasurably. Her knowledge of MSK issues is awesome and she immediately gets to the root of any problem: even after one session I feel great improvement. Recently she and a colleague kindly reviewed the various scans and tests which I underwent privately last year and the subsequent advice and recommendations were just so helpful. From being fairly immobile and in a lot of pain she has got me jogging 5.5 k three times weekly! I never thought that would be possible. I attend her Pilates classes regularly twice a week and have only missed one or two of them, and then only in an emergency. The Pilates has improved my mobility, posture, everything, and it’s just so mentally uplifting too. Kay is very conscientious and misses nothing, whether in a one to one or a group session. She is endlessly patient, explains everything in her lovely clear voice, and has such an infectious smile and personality. Who could ask for anything more?!

I’m a fitness professional in my 50s and I’ve been working with Kay for nearly 15 years. I first met her a couple of years after a serious motorbike accident, where after several surgeries, I was told I would have to give up fitness as a profession as I would have to use a stick to help me walk... But working with Kay helped me to regain my fitness and mobility, and to understand more about how to manage physical change and stay healthy... When I saw my surgeon six months after the last surgery he actually couldn’t believe I was walking without a stick, let alone that I was back working as a fitness professional and was clearly on an upward curve where my strength, balance, and control were concerned - he’d actually brought in a physio to measure me for crutches and pencilled me in for a knee replacement! He asked me what my secret was - and so I told him... “I make sure I see an osteopath once a week without fail ”... And the he asked me, “Where did this osteopath train, Hogwarts?” That says it all...
