What equipment do I need for my Pilates class in Croydon?

At Croydon Pilates we provide all the equipment you would need for a class whether it is a Mat Pilates class or one of our Reformer Pilates classes in Shirley, Croydon.

One of the important things customers and clients need to bring is appropriate clothing, consisting of comfortable, fitted and stretchy that do not restrict your ability to move fully.  Loose clothing can get in the way.

Although not essential, grip socks are very useful and often recommended as they are non-slip and are more hygienic when standing on the studio floors, mats and reformer machines.

Other equipment you could choose to purchase for comfort and hygiene would be items listed below.

Mat

Pilates Mat: A good-quality, thick mat is essential for comfort and support during floor exercises. Pilates mats are usually thicker than yoga mats to provide extra cushioning.

Accessories

Towel: A small towel can be useful for wiping sweat or adding extra support.

Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is important, so bring a water bottle.

Once established in a class, if your instructor uses specific small equipment regularly and you would like to use your own in class or while practicing at home, these are some optional small equipment pieces commonly used:

Resistance Bands: Some classes might use resistance bands for added intensity. We sell resistance/exercise bands at the clinic.

Pilates Ring (Magic Circle): Occasionally used for inner thigh and arm exercises. We sell them too if you need one, and you can use ours for free.

Small Hand Weights: Light hand weights might be used in certain exercises.

Foam Roller: Sometimes used for warm-up, cool-down, or specific exercises. Speak to us about the right diameter and length.

Pilates Ball: Soft squidgy balls. We provide them for our classes.

Reformer: The key part of a Reformer Pilates class – we have six of them at our studio in Croydon.

Check with our instructor beforehand, as some classes may provide equipment or have specific requirements. If we need to use equipment, we usually provide it.

If you're attending one of our reformer Pilates classes within Back in Shape Clinic - Shirley, the studio provides the reformer machines, but the above items (like socks and comfortable clothing) will still be helpful.

We look forward to you joining one of our classes in Croydon.
